Centrally located in the cultural hub of Brisbane’s South Bank Precinct, Jan Manton Art neighbors the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) and the new Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA). Since opening in 2004, Jan Manton Art has exhibited leading contemporary artists from Australia and overseas. Artists represented by the gallery cross all mediums from sculpture to photography, painting to installation, works on paper to ceramics, and new media based works. Jan Manton Art has placed works in private collections throughout Australia and overseas, with many works being bought by major Australian and international art galleries and museums.
DIRECTOR
Jan Manton has been a long time supporter of the visual arts in Queensland. She is currently President of Flying Arts and supports young artists through the Byran-Manton Art Prize for QUT Visual Art Graduates. Jan Manton is a former member of the QUT Art Collection Committee, Steering Committee for the Harries Digital Art Award and Caboolture Shire Council Art Collection Committee and was Chair the fundraising campaign for the QUT Art Museum in 2004.
VALUATIONS & ADVICE ON COLLECTING
Jan Manton is an approved Valuer of Contemporary Australian Art (from 1970 to the present) in paintings, prints and sculpture for the Australian Government’s Culture Gifts Program. This includes the valuation of art works for insurance purposes. Advice on buying art for first time collectors and for collectors wishing to define their existing collection is readily available from Jan Manton Art. The experience gained as Queensland Representative for Sotheby’s and then Deutscher Menzies Fine Art Auctioneers gives Jan Manton a clear understanding of the best practices when buying and selling art, be it a private or corporate collection. All enquires are welcome and treated with strict confidentiality.
ARTIST SUBMISSIONS
Artists seeking representation are welcome to submit and application to the gallery. Artists are asked to forward images, a current CV and a brief artist statement. Applications can be made via email or hard copy. A no-return policy applies to all material received unless return postage is otherwise supplied.
