Biography
Justine Cooper’s artwork probes the intersections between culture, science and medicine. She uses animation, video, installation, photography, as well as medical imaging technologies such as MRI, DNA sequencing and Ultra sound.
Her work has been internationally recognized and exhibited at venues including The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; The NTT Inter Communication Center, Tokyo; The Singapore Museum of Art; The Nether lands Institute for Media Art, The George Pompidou Centre, Paris; and the International Center of Photography, New York.
She was the first artist-in-residence at The American Museum of Natural His tory, and has participated in residencies in Beijing, Santa Fe, Seattle, and the World Trade Center. She is the recipient of grants through the Australia Council, Greenwall Foundation, and New York State Council for the Arts.
Cooper’s artwork is held in public and private collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), The Powerhouse Museum (Sydney), The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (Brisbane), Monash University Museum of Art (Melbourne), and the Aus tralian Centre for the Moving Image (Melbourne).
