DECEMBER
SCOTT REDFORD drags art history into popular culture with his first solo exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 'Blood Disco' Dec 17 2007- Mar 2008.  TONY ALBERT shows new work in 'The Visitors - Aliens & UFO's in Contemporary Art' at Penrith Regional Gallery from Dec 8 2007 - Jan 28 2008.

OCTOBER
JUAN FORD selected for the University of Queensland's National Artist's Self Portrait Prize, opening Oct 20 2007 - Feb 18 2008.  Ford also exhibits in the 'Arthur Guy Memorial Painting Prize' at Bendigo Art Gallery and in 'Eye to I' at the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery. Ford complets a commissioned portrait of Professor Ruth Dunkin, the former Vice Chancellor of RMIT University in Melbourne (pictured right) and was shortlisted for the 'Prometheus Arts Prize'.

SEPTEMBER
Congratulations to TONY ALBERT - WINNER of the 2007 Sunshine Coast Art Prize for his work '50perCENT feat. SISSY' (2007). Judge Tim Morrell on the winning work: "when the work by the winner of a competition is going to be acquired for permanent collection, it should not only reflect the most interesting contemporary developmets, it should also be of lasting significance within Australian art and society" (Tim Morell, 2007).

JULY
KIM DEMUTH breaks new ground with two major public art projects: 'Triumvirate' at Queensland’s Old Museum Building at Bowen Hills in Brisbane and 'Out of the Smoke' at Durak Fire Station, Brisbane. 'Triumvirate' is a multi-media, obelisk-shaped sculpture designed by Brisbane artists Kim Demuth, Lawrence English and Eluned Lloyd uses sound fragments to attract the attention of passers-by and bring visitors into the site’s rich and diverse history. 

JUNE
DANIEL TEMPLEMAN achieved another landmark public art work with a series of four, 6m high sculptures for the Riverway Stadium in Thuringowa, Queensland. The project was curated by Jacqueline Armitstead of Cox Rayner Architects, Brisbane.  JOACHIM FROESE went OS for his show at 'Dom Fotografie' in Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia, which opened on 5th July 2007.

MAY
MEL ROBSON and CARL WARNER selected for the 'Churchie 20-20' exhibition at the Museum of Brisbane. Curated by Frank McBride, the exhibition is a selection of entrants from the last twenty years. Mel Robson also exhibits work in the '4th World Ceramic Biennale' in Icheon, South Korea, until 24th June 2007.

DANIEL WALLWORK goes on tour with the 'Supercharged: the car in contemporary culture' exhibition. Curated by Vanessa McRae (IMA) 'Supercharged' brings together the work of 12 contemporary artists who reference the car's iconic status in Australian life. The exhibition explores aesthetics, design, memory, sex, death and the impact of the car on the environment. Touring dates: Mildura Art Centre, 8 March - 22 April 2007; 24 Hr Art, Darwin, 1 June - 6 July 2007; Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, 5 October - 18 November 2007; Pinnacles Gallery, Thuringowa, 23 November 2007 - 13 January 2008; Logan Art Gallery, 12 February – 15 March 2008; and Redcliffe Art Gallery, 24 March - 26 April 2008.
