HANDLE WITH CARE
2008 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art, Art Gallery of South Australia, 1 March – 4 May 2008. Curated by renowned Sydney-based curator, Felicity Fenner, Handle with Care presents diverse responses to contemporary issues in what is the flagship visual arts event of the 2008 Adelaide Festival of Arts. Fenner has selected prominent Australian-born and immigrant artists and DADANG CHRISTANTO, JANET LAURENCE and ALFREDO & ISABEL AQUILIZAN have new works in the exhibition, responding to notions of fragility and vulnerability, nature and the environment, and the erosion of cultural traditions. JOACHIM FROESE

Joachim Froese has received an Australia Council grant for a workshop project with German actor Rainer Sellien in Berlin. Inspired by the works of Rembrandt and Shakespeare and their common perception of the individual they will collaborate with performing artists to stage and photograph theatrical moments. Joachim will be in Berlin from November 2008 until February 2009. Upcoming exhibitions: PORTRAIT OF MY MOTHER at DELL Gallery, QCA South Brisbane opening from 4th Apr - 4th May 2008 and Written in the Past at Logan Regional Art Gallery opening from the 20th Mar - 19th Apr 2008. These exhibitions co-incided with the Queensland Festival of Photography.

CARL WARNER

Carl Warner has just completed ‘Infinity Forest’ - a major public art project for the new Evolution building located on cnr Tank St and North Quay, Brisbane. The project was initiated through Urban Arts Projects, Brisbane.

 

 

SCOTT REDFORD

For his first exhibition at the A150rt Gallery of New South Wales, Queensland artist Scott Redford drags art history into popular culture, using the materials that create surfboards he produces monochromatic paintings, some embellished with images. BLOOD DISCO at AGNSW : DEC 13 2007 - 9 MAR 2008.

STEPHEN HART

Brisbane based sculptor Stephen Hart is a FINALIST for the 2008 WYNNE PRIZE at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney. The entered work, Life is Leathal, will be on display from 8th March - 18th May 2008.

MEL ROBSON

Mel Robson is one of the artists included in the AUSTRLIAN CERAMIC STORIES Exhibition showing at the Dubbo Regional Gallery from April 5 - May 18 2008. Mel Robson will be a guest artist for the international symposium on Ceramics and  Print at the Hungarian International Ceramics Centre, Budapest  in September 2008.
