JMA is delighted to announce that gallery artist Imants Tillers and Keith Burt have been selected as finalists in the 2019 Archibald Prize.
A previous finalist in the 2017 Archibald Prize with a portrait of Tarragh Cunningham, Burt’s 2019 entry depicts the Queensland-born writer and journalist, Benjamin Law.
For Tillers, 2019 represents his sixth time as a finalist in the Archibald Prize, having been previously selected in 2016, 2013, 1997, 1989 and 1988. Tillers portrays former Sydney Rabbitohs NRL player, Greg Inglis, whom he admires not only as an elite athlete, but for his roles as a community leader for the broader Indigenous community.
Congratulations to both artists and their subjects. Images: Imants Tillers, ‘All Hail Greg Inglis’ and Keith Burt, ‘Benjamin Law: Happy Sad'
