SAFFRON NEWEY
Saffron Newey is a Melbourne-based painter, who utilises digital media processes. In 2019 she received a PhD in Fine Art at RMIT University. Her research focused on the effect of the Internet upon painting, both as a contemporary medium and as an art-historical narrative. Saffron Newey has been exhibiting for 25 years and is included in various private and public collections in Australia and abroad. She has been a finalist in multiple Australian prizes for landscape and contemporary painting. A recent expansion to Saffron’s practice is mural painting. 2020 has seen her complete numerous public and private commissions.

Exhibiting artist Saffron Newey joined Alain Guillemain in the space to discuss ‘relationality’ and the connection between sorrow and joy in Pools of Sorrow; Waves of Joy (28 February - 18 March).
